After talking about the Pain of Budgeting, let's get into some good news. At least it was good for me!

Spending Plans. Wait, how is that different from budgeting? Doesn't budgeting mean making a plan for how to spend your money? Well, for starters, the name is different.
Seriously. It may not seem like a big difference, but it actually reframes the whole conversation into a more positive and fun concept.
I can tell you from personal experience that it is much more fun to spend money than to budget!
A whole new world
When we call our money management tool a spending plan, it frees us up to a whole new world of possibilities (by the way, that's all budgets and spending plans are: money management plans). Here's how my thinking changed with a spending plan:
I get to spend every single dollar of income
I am not locked into the same exact blueprint for the next 12 months
I can change my plan in the middle of the pay period to adjust for new circumstances
I can pay myself first
I feel in control of my money
I feel like I have more money at the end of the pay period
Does that sound encouraging? hopeful? doable?
I gave myself a raise!
Once I switched to the idea of a spending plan, and realized I can change my plan at any time to adjust for new circumstances, my whole financial life changed!
Before it always felt like there was "more month than money" in spite of my attempts to budget. But after "spending" every dollar in my spending plan, somehow I started having "more money than month." It's like I gave myself a pay raise.
It completely rocked my world. Call it a paradigm shift. Call it a revelation. Call it mind-blowing.
My finances moved from pain to pleasure. What a gift!

Anyone can do it
No matter your circumstances. No matter your stage in life. No matter anything. You can do it!
But maybe you don't know how. Maybe you don't know where to start. Maybe you don't think you can.
Let me tell you a secret: anything is possible. But it will take a commitment to change the way you think and act. And sometimes that change can be hard, especially if you feel alone.
That's why we got into coaching.
What do you mean by coaching?
We've experienced the power of coaching for ourselves in many areas of life.
It's amazing what a difference it can make when you have community. When you have encouragement. When you have someone who doesn't judge you for failure, but challenges you to leave your mistakes behind and move forward into the future of your dreams. Who believes in you. Who reminds you of the pleasure and reward that awaits if you keep pressing on.
Does that sound like something you want for yourself?
